Description
Richly evocative blue costume necklace featuring glass crystals, inspired by the jewellery depicted in the 1500 wedding portrait of Jakob Fugger and Sibylle Arzt by Thomas Burgkmair (d.1523). Burgkmair was part of the renowned Augsburg painting family and documented the opulence of the merchant elite through portraiture. Jakob Fugger, known as “the Rich”, was one of the most powerful financiers of the Renaissance. This beaded necklace reflects the style and splendour of that period.
