Description
A beguiling jigsaw puzzle which reproduces ‘Zodiac’ by Czech artist Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). The design was originally commissioned as a calendar in 1896 and was so popular the image was developed through a further nine variants; this jigsaw reproduces the version used by French magazine ‘La Plume’ for their calendar in 1897. The intricate design includes the twelve signs of the zodiac, star-shapes and is full of Mucha’s signature arabesques and swooping, Art Nouveau-lines. The border also includes Celtic-style interlacing and foliage to add to the challenge for dedicated puzzlers.
