Kerala Cotton Dress

A breezy printed cotton dress in shades of blue and green on an aqua ground, reminiscent of the patterns seen on 18th-century Indian palampores, or bedcovers, made for export to Europe. One such palampore is now held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. This relaxed-fit dress features mother-of-pearl buttons running down the front, horizontal pintuck detail below the chest, full-length sleeves with button cuffs and an unlined design.
