‘For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness’, Psalm 18:28
Countdown the days of Advent with a charming pillar candle, decorated with a Nativity scene by contemporary British artist Alison Gardiner. With 24 markings, the scene includes the Holy Family, shepherds, Magi and angels in a starry sky. The stable’s donkey is joined by sheep and even some chickens, in the endearing design which wraps around the candle. Thought to originate in 19th century Germany, many Protestant and Catholic churches light candles in an Advent Wreath: created from four candles, each is lit for the four weeks in Advent, and a central, larger candle is lit on Christmas Day. The four candles symbolise hope, truth, joy and peace; the central candle, called the Christ Candle, symbolises the abiding love of Jesus. Echoing the tradition of marking Advent with candles, this British-made candle makes a charming centrepiece and can be enjoyed each day as Christmas approaches.

Whilst I obviously haven't lit this year's candle yet I buy this every year from Museum Selection. Whilst a little more expensive than the standard candle from the high street I get this one because it's the only one I've used that doesn't drip wax everywhere and burns down evenly. Worth the money although the P&P is very expensive.
