Description
The British Library
A republished mystery from the 1930s, a golden-age for British crime-writing.

When Sir Ralph Feltham is found dead in the midst of revelry at Feltham Abbey’s glittering fancy dress ball, young lawyer Tony Keith sets out to find the culprit. With his contacts in the Secret Service already closing in on the Abbey, intent upon uncovering a blackmail ring run by the elusive ‘Spider’, international skulduggery and country house shocks abound.

This twisting tale from Anthony Gilbert (1899-1973) — pen name of Lucy Beatrice Malleson — was originally published in 1933. The book also includes the 1939 short stories 'The Cockroach and the Tortoise' and 'Horseshoes for Luck' featuring ‘The Spider’.
