An elegant tote bag in a sturdy cotton canvas fabric reproducing paper-cut collages of wild and cultivated flowers, originally created by Mary Delany (1700–88). Delany spent her summers after 1768 and the death of her husband staying with the Duchess of Portland at Bulstrode in Buckinghamshire and it was there that she began her remarkable series of flower collages - or paper ‘mosaicks’, as she called them - that were bequeathed to The British Museum by her descendent Lady Llanover in 1895. The flowers include a narcissus, blue-eyed-Mary (Cynoglossum Omphalodes), the Jamaican bellflower (Portlandia Grandiflora), marigolds, passionflower, Yellow Flag Iris (Iris Pseudacorus), a pink rhododendron, and more. Presented smartly against black echoing Delany’s signature black-ink backgrounds. Printed on both sides, the bag includes shoulder-friendly straps and a useful interior pouch pocket. Created in a GOTS-certified Organic cotton canvas, the sturdy bag offers take-anywhere style combined with function.
