Description
Foldaway tapestry bag based on 'Brother Rabbit', 1881, a design first produced at Merton Abbey by William Morris (1834–1896). Inspired by a book Morris read aloud to his daughters, Jenny and May, the design was named after a character in 'Uncle Remus, His Songs and Sayings' by the American writer Joel Chandler Harris (1848–1908), whose collected African American folk tales brought the trickster rabbit to wide popularity in the late nineteenth century. Woven in blue and white polyester, with zip and popper closure, unlined and finished with blue faux leather handles, this bag makes a practical gift for any admirer of Morris & Co.'s storytelling-inspired patterns.
