PRODUCT DETAILS
Description
Beige tapestry tote bag depicting details from the Bayeux Tapestry, a medieval embroidery chronicling the events of the 1066 Norman conquest of England. Stitched in wool on linen in eight colours across a length of nearly seventy metres, the Tapestry is one of the most extraordinary surviving works of the Middle Ages, a sequential narrative of breathtaking energy and detail that records not only the political and military events leading to William the Conqueror's victory at Hastings but also the ships, feasts, ceremonies, astronomical phenomena and ordinary details of 11th-century life that no other contemporary source preserves. Created almost certainly in England, probably in Canterbury, within a generation of the events it depicts, it has been held at Bayeux in Normandy since at least the 15th century and is now recognised as a document of world historical importance. This shopper is designed with a meshed side pocket, front Velcro pocket and back zip pocket, the zip closure opens to inner zip pocket. Crafted in polyester, lined, with brown webbing handles.
