Morris Blackthorn Memo Cube

A handsome memo cube, complete with a useful drawer, decorated with a verdant detail from ‘Blackthorn’, a wallpaper design created 1892 by John Henry Dearle (1859-1932). Dearle worked for Morris and Co. for over fifty years, having been trained by William Morris (1834-96), and then succeeding his mentor as the firm’s Art Director in 1896. ‘Blackthorn’ mixes snakehead fritillaries, violets and marigolds, while the drawer-front and interior of the memo cube’s flip-up lid is decorated with a contrasting detail from ‘Wey’, c.1883, by William Morris. The drawer is also printed with the initials W.M., recalling Kelmscott Press-lettering. Containing 400 sheets of plain memo paper, the cube is a perfect companion for making notes and shopping lists throughout the year.
