First Overland Land Rover Models

A set of two die cast Land Rover Series I models, presented in the globe-trotting liveries of the ‘First Overland’ expedition 1955-56, which travelled from London to Singapore across over 18,000 miles in two Mk 1 Land Rover Station Wagons. Officially named 'The Oxford and Cambridge Far Eastern Expedition', the venture has become known as ‘First Overland’ thanks to Tim Slessor’s book of that name published in 1957 recounting his experiences as part of 6-strong team. This set of two Series 1 Land Rovers recalls the legendary expedition in authentic miniature, down to the roof racks and tarpaulin-covered equipment and supplies. In the appropriate colours of light blue (Cambridge University) and the dark blue (Oxford University), the models feature a list of the countries the adventurers drove through. The decoration also includes the sponsors of the day who made the journey possible.
