Father Christmas Sleigh Cards
Symbolising good cheer and feasting, the figure of ‘Old Father Christmas’ became popular in the troubled aftermath of the English Civil War, representing a more peaceful era of goodwill. Having been, largely, forgotten after the Restoration of 1660, the Victorians revived this convivial personification of feasting and merry-making; gradually becoming the bringer of gifts in the tradition of the American Santa Claus. A jovial collection of early 20th century images of Father Christmas. Reproducing original British, European and American Christmas cards from c.1900-20 and an image from a festive 1930s biscuit tin.

Not as expected. Poor quality printing and picture and some cards had a bit of Happy Christmas cut through! Very disappointing.
