Description
Exquisitely dainty die-cut cards recreating original greetings cards from a late-Victorian scrapbook. The original cards were made c.1890s and one c.1901-1910s; all by leading British card manufacturer Raphael Tuck & Sons, established 1866, with intricate shapes and lace-like details. Die-cut to echo the originals, the card-fronts feature the original greetings – ‘With Every Good Wish’, ‘Greetings’ and ‘To Greet you’ – and reproduce pretty details of forget-me-nots and a swallow, popular sentimental motifs of the era. In the Victorian Language of Flowers, forget-me-nots symbolised remembrance, veneration and enduring love.
