Middle Kingdom Gemstone Necklace

A striking necklace combining turquoise-coloured howlite, lapis and gold-plated hematite discs, echoing the colours and materials used in Egyptian jewellery from the Middle Kingdom, c.2000 BC. In ancient Egypt, blue stones symbolised the life-giving power of the Nile and were linked to creation and renewal. Lapis lazuli was especially revered, imported from distant lands and reserved for high-status adornments. This bold necklace channels that ancient symbolism in a contemporary form.
