‘Truth is like fire; to tell the truth means to glow and burn’, Gustav Klimt (1862-1918).

A glittering exploration of Gustav Klimt’s (1862-1918) art, his relationship with fellow artists of the Vienna Secession, the origins and variety of the movement, and the development of Art Nouveau through the work of this prolific and influential coterie. With diverse influences, from Japanese prints to the Glasgow School, the Secessionists found expression in many art forms. Featuring paintings, literature, prints, and architecture by Klimt, Egon Schiele, Koloman Moser, Otto Wagner, Josef Hoffmann, Jan Toorop and more. Culminating in the 14th Vienna Secessionist exhibition in 1902, which included Klimt's Beethoven Frieze.
