Sopwith F1 Camel Kit

Chocks away! Marking the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Royal Air Force which, on 1st April 1918, amalgamated the Royal Naval Air Service and Royal Flying Corps; and just like the ones played with by generations of boys: build a rubber-band powered, free flight model of a Sopwith F1 Camel using traditional balsa wood for the frame and tissue paper for the skin. The F1 was the first British aircraft to feature a synchronising gear allowing guns to fire through the propellers. Based upon a 1918 aircraft from No.13 Squadron RNAS (latterly 213 Squadron RAF) which provided cover for naval sea planes and shipping before supporting the Belgian army towards the end of the war. Build up the balsa framework over a scale engineering plan and create a 16 wingspan model that really flies

Kit contains 4 balsa sheets with precise laser cut parts, tissue paper, plastic propeller, diagrams and instructions plus glue, acetate, rubber and metal pieces.
Tissue paper shades vary across khaki and yellow tones.
The kit requires additional basic tools (not included): dress-making/modelling pins, craft knife, pliers, wire cutters, sand paper, ruler, pen, brushes, and clothes pegs.
5 x 21 x 2 boxed.
Age 14+.
