Shikoh Printed Blouse

Hand block printed cotton, recalling a Mughal miniature of flowers, including carnations and irises, depicted in the Dara Shikoh album c.1633. Carnations were a popular floral motif in Persian art, thought to symbolise nobility and renewal. A relaxed-fit blouse with mother-of-pearl buttons.

Long sleeves, gathered yoke to back, 5" vents at sides. 29 ½" long.
Made in India.
Cool wash at 30 degrees.

This is a very pretty blouse and I love the pink floral design,
although the wavy pink background is more dominant than it
appears in the photos, where it appears to be almost white.
Lovely fine, soft cotton and ideal for warm weather, however the
ends of the sleeves are very wide, even though they are gathered into a loose cuff, which rather spoils the appearance of the blouse, especially as I have very slim wrists. I think an open, kimono-type sleeve, as often found in Indian style tops, would have been more suitable, and I have thought of adapting the sleeves to that, but don''t have much time just now so may just have to send it back
