Prints & Wall Art

A collection of prints and wall part inspired by the past 300 years of art including works by L.S. Lowry (1887-1976). Many of Lowry's drawings and paintings depict Pendlebury, Lancashire, where he lived and worked for more than 40 years, and also Salford and its surrounding areas. The Lowry in Salford was opened in 2000 and brings together much of the artistís work. Ordnance Survey maps from the Victorian period can be reproduced, centred on a postcode of your own choice offering a fascinating insight into our history. On 21 June 1791, the Board of Ordnance purchased a Ramsden theodolite, now seen as the foundation of OS, to survey Britain and protect from a French invasion. Ten years later the first OS map of Kent was published and the OS have continued to map the country and provide data for Great Britain ever since.
