Moss Agate Earrings

Attractive earrings reflecting the popularity of agates in Victorian jewellery. Moss agate is a form of chalcedony which includes minerals of a green colour embedded in the stone, forming filaments and other patterns suggestive of moss. The use of agates in jewellery dates from the end of the stone age; neolithic agate beads believed to be 9,000 years old have been found in Anatolia, present-day Turkey. Carved into cameos during the Renaissance, they gained renewed favour during the late-19th century.

Moss agate beads combined with faceted cherry quartz.
1" long, silver hooks.
Clean with a soft cloth.
