Men's Accessories

A collection of traditionally-styled accessories including cotton handkerchiefs, silk ties and leather designs reflecting originals from the 19th and early-20th centuries. The modern tie evolved from the more elaborate cravat which had been worn since the 17th century, having been brought to France by the Croatians. By 1900 bow ties and ascots were also sported and in the 1920s the slim necktie was widely adopted as a more practical design. A New York tie maker, Jessie Langsdorf invented a new way of cutting the fabric when constructing a tie, which allowed the tie to spring back into its original shape after each wearing. This invention triggered the creation of many new tie knots and ties became the predominant choice for men as bow ties were reserved for formal evening and black tie functions.
