The invention of Joseph Fry who, in 1847, introduced ‘eating’ (as opposed to drinking) chocolate, developed fondant chocolate as a melt-in-the-mouth filling for the Fry’s Chocolate Cream Bar in 1866. Prettily presented with ribbon and a faux daffodil trim, foil-wrapped lemon and lime fondant enrobed in dark chocolate.
