Gemstone Fish

Semi-precious gemstone fish echoing the carved hardstone 'objets virtu' created in Russia at the end of the 19th century. In 1907 King Edward VII and his consort Queen Alexandra commissioned the Russian jeweller Peter Carl Faberge (1846-1920) to produce carved gemstone miniatures of the animals on their estate at Sandringham in Norfolk.

Polished red jasper.
