Fascinating Footnotes From History

Did you know that Stalin robbed a bank? That Charlie Chaplin's corpse was held to ransom? Or that Agatha Christie disappeared for 11 days in 1926? 90 of the quirkiest historical nuggets. Engagingly written and impeccably researched: eye-stretching true stories that read like fiction. Includes Hiroo Onoda, the lone Japanese soldier still fighting the Second World War in 1974; Werner Franz, a cabin boy on the Hindenburg who lived to tell the tale when it was engulfed in flames in 1937; and the man who took Hitler to court in 1931; and even answers who ate the last dodo. Peopled with a gallery of spies, rogues, cannibals, and adventurers, spanning 6 continents. Sheds light on some of the most infamous stories and most flamboyant and colourful characters (and animals) from history.

I thought that this would have been a slightly smaller book. I hope the size of the print and the book doesn''t put the elderly gentleman I bought it for off. Looks fascinating though.
