Crofters Cardigan

Originally hand-knitted by Fair Isle women and traded with passing ships, the style of Fair Isle knits became fashionable when the Prince of Wales (later to become Edward VIII) wore the knits in public in 1921 which resulted in many patterns being created for home knitters across Britain. Made by Harley of Scotland est 1929.

Length 24".
Handwash. Remove excess water. Lay flat to dry. Ease gently in to shape whilst damp.

I really like the cardigan and the fit is perfect. The only thing I would have changed is that the wool for the body of the sweater has colored flecks in it. I would have preferred a solid. But it remains one of the prettiest Shetland sweaters I have seen because of the broad pattern and lovely colors.
